For Hustuls, sheep have been a symbol of wealth for a long time. Sheep’s wool has been used in a variety of different crafts.

UNESCO, in 2019, inscribed Tradition of Kosiv painted ceramics in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It is made in traditional Kosiv painted ceramic – Hustul technology (also known as sgraffito) using two different clays (red clay and kaolin), handmade colour pigments, and two firings. The pattern is engraved in clay.
